Quebec Barracks

Quebec Park in Bordon was a tendered project for Radian housing association completing in July 2018. This regeneration project on a decommissioned army barracks provided 100 homes and enhanced commercial space providing new employment opportunities in the area.

This project for Radian Housing Group was an important mixed-tenure regeneration project secured through a Homes England acquisition from the DIO. Working closely with Radian and other key stakeholders Drew Smith played a critical role throughout the planning, design and construction period which included the evolution of a new energy standard in its infancy which proved to be a learning curve for all involved. Construction methods included traditional concrete strip foundations and pre-cast beam and block floors.

The homes included highly energy efficient enhanced timber frame units with Architectural timber and aluminium solar protection measures. Timber, brickwork and cladding panels were used in the external fabric. A café and a community hub for the new development formed a critical part of the project and Drew Smith worked alongside the Architects to bring forward a planning application that offered buildability and practicality delivering a wonderful asset for the Bordon Community.
