Hookpit Farm Lane

This edge of settlement site was acquired unconditionally by Drew Smith and a first phase of development brought forward as a 25 dwelling, rural exception site providing homes for rent and shared ownership.

The first phase was delivered for our valued partner Hyde Housing. The sensitive development of this phase, which included detailed ecological mitigation works, dense vegetation clearance and an archaeology field investigation, was well received by parts of the community and presented the potential for a subsequent phase on directly adjoining land.

Following our successful defence of a village green application and the diversion of various RoW, Drew Smith worked in collaboration with Winchester City Council to bring forward a planning application for an additional 35 affordable homes. The scheme was designed to provide much needed affordable homes for the community of Kings Worthy and support WCC with their new homes delivery programme.

Extensive consultation was held spanning a period of more than 12 months with the Parish Council, local Community and Stakeholders. As well as homes for the community, retained land is to be transferred into public ownership for recreational use by local people. The application was granted unanimous consent at planning and is due for completion in the Summer of 2021.
