Dog Walks From Your Drew Smith Home

Its National Pet Month and we are celebrating all the pets we have welcomed to their new homes this year. Bar far the most popular with our new communities are our four-legged friends, the dogs.

Spring is the ideal time for our residents to step outside and discover the areas around their new homes and we have put together a list of some great places to explore that will guarantee to get their tails wagging.

Pembers Hill Park, Fairoak, Hampshire

St Catherine’s Hill, Winchester

Just a ten-minute drive from Pembers Hill Park can bring you to this beautiful area in the heart of the South Downs National Park. St Catherine’s Hill is a stunningly beautiful chalk downland boasting fantastic views. Climb the 220ft wooden stairs and enjoy the views over Winchester and the Itchen Valley.

Itchen Valley Country Park

If you move to Pembers Hill Park this stunning country park, set in 440 acres of beautiful water meadows, is just a ten-minute drive away. Perfect for dog walks in the spring sunshine the park boasts winding trails along beside the River Itchen as well as the Woodside café to finish your walk off with a cup of tea or an ice cream.

Summer Fields, Pagham, West Sussex

Pagham Beach

Just a 15 minute from your Summer Fields front door you will find the beautiful Pagham beach. This shingle beach is located just west of Bognor Regis and is a stretch of coastline that can boast itself to be the sunniest place in the whole of the UK!

The beach, which is also perfect for swimming, is the perfect place to walk your dog in all seasons and ends at the entrance to Pagham harbour, a wildlife area which includes a lagoon and wetland area.

Chichester Canal

The historic city of Chichester is just a short drive from Summer Fields. The Chichester canal passes to the south of the city and the canal towpath is the perfect place to walk this Spring. The towpath follows the canal for four miles stretching from the canal basin to Chichester Marina.

The canal will take you through open farmland with lots of places to stop and admire the views, enjoy the tranquillity and admire the wildlife.

Brewery Place, Blandford, Dorset

Lulworth Cove

Lulworth Cove is a half an hour drive from our new homes in Blandford but worth every second. This world-famous site for its stunning landforms and unique geology. The walk from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door, a natural limestone arch, is one of the most popular walks in Dorset. The walk connects two of the most magnificent areas on the Jurassic Coast along cliffs and through countryside.

The Rive Stour

Just a few minutes’ walk from your Brewery Place home you will find the beautiful River Stour, the longest river in the country. Start from the Blandford Bridge and follow the footpath along the Stour Valley Way though water meadows and even a deer park. Once you arrive in the village of Stourpaine you can stop for refreshments at the pub and then follow the North Dorset Trailway back to Georgian town of Blandford where you are just a few minutes away from home!
