Construction firm supports parents through lockdown

Construction firm Drew Smith, part of Vistry Partnerships, understands how hard it can be to home school as many of its own team have been trying to do just that as well as managing their own workload. The Southampton based company decided that they wanted to try and help and created some great new initiatives for their team as well as the local community.

In a bid to keep children out of mischief and spark an interest in construction, the Drew Smith team created a series of activity sheets for children of all ages. These can be downloaded and printed and help children learn things from shapes and numbers to how to help the environment and design your own house. To help give children a change of scenery and give parents a short break, Emily, Senior Administrator, created Team Tales, a twice weekly online bedtime story set up for children of the Drew Smith team.

Emily previously worked as a primary school teacher and said; “I am delighted that these sessions have been received so well. I have always loved reading to children, so I came up with the idea of Team Tales. Its great for the children to see a new face and I know some parents could do with a little time out at the moment.”

On top of this the sales team have recognised that lockdown is a time to work together as a community and has created a private Facebook community for residents of their Pembers Hill Park development in Fairoak. This group has not only provided an opportunity for the new neighbours to get to know each other better but also given them a forum to ask for help and support when needed. We were really happy to award some Just Eat vouchers this morning to celebrate the great work the children did at building their own houses.
