Pembers Hill Park Residents Increase Bee Habitats

Drew Smith continued with their bid to increase bumblebee habitats within their developments this weekend by giving away wildflower seeds and activities to residents of Pembers Hill Park in Fair Oak, Hampshire.

Drew Smith are proud supporters of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and through this partnership the team aim to ensure that the developments we create will enhance biodiversity and sustain wildlife through providing flower rich environments. With the decline of UK bumblebees in recent years the team will be committed to raise awareness and education of how our residents can support bumblebees and other insects in their own gardens and throughout the community where they live.

Vicky Eagle, Marketing Manager said; “It was great to meet so many of our residents who are also passionate about building a community that attracts bees and wildlife. I look forward to seeing these seed bloom throughout the development in the next few months.”

Over 40 residents attended the event to collect their free wildflower seeds as well as their children who collected a number of goodies to encourage them to get involved in the project and some activities to help them to continue to learn at home.

The seed packets have been scientifically curated by Pollenize. Pollenize are an organisation who gather environmental intelligence data to research and combat the drivers of insect decline and deliver public led rewilding solutions. A significant part of their work is tracking where their seeds have been planted to collate the data of that area and the wildlife that has benefited. Drew Smith and Vistry Partnerships have teamed up with Pollenize so that when one of our seed packets are logged onto their map, we can see just how many seeds we have helped to plant.
