Drew Smith Launches Cancer Awareness Campaign in Memory of Colleague

The team at Drew Smith have launched a new campaign today to raise awareness of cancer, focusing on Ocular Melanoma which is a cancer of the uvea within the eye.

The campaign has been created in memory of a colleague who sadly lost her life to eye cancer earlier this year. Zoe, a Quantity Surveyor at Drew Smith, was diagnosed in April 2021 and was passionate about leaving a legacy within the company and to raise awareness of early detection of both skin cancer, as well as eye cancer.

Zoe was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma after a routine eyesight examination; although she received treatment, she lost her short but brave battle earlier this year and Drew Smith are now committed to fulfilling Zoe’s legacy wishes. The team have taken up the challenge to spread this message and raise awareness with the team and the wider business.

Staff have been provided bags filled with useful information and equipment which includes UV sun cream and UV rated eyewear which can provide protection at work. They have also been offered a free eye test with an additional OCT scan which can help detect any abnormalities and can help with early detection.

Adrian Cator, Managing Director said; “Raising awareness of this cause is really important to us and we are dedicated to getting this message out to the team as well as their friends and family. Zoe was a much-loved member of the team and it really was a mark of her bravery that she created this legacy to help inform others”

Drew Smith will also be raising money MacMillan Cancer Support who were provided Zoe and her family with so much support during her journey. More details to come!
